Cash Box Kings :: HOLDING COURT
On Holding Court, award-winning fan favorites The Cash Box Kings continue their mission of carrying on the spirit of the 1940's and 50's post-war Chicago blues sound as well as the Delta blues music of the 20's and 30's. Living Blues said they are simply "one of the best blues bands in the land."

But these illustrious torchbear¬ers also add a bravado, energy and freshness to the mix that results in a distinctive musical expe¬rience. With a focus on the raw, stripped-down, ensemble playing that was the hallmark of the post-war sound, the band showcases the music of Chess Records and Sun Records while add¬ing a healthy dose of original music that captures the essence of early Memphis and Chicago blues sounds.

Ian Siegal :: THE PICNIC SESSIONS
The Picnic Sessions is an uncut diamond, the perfect expression of what happens when five talented musicians with a love of blues and roots Americana get together and play and sing, with no pre-determined idea of the outcome. You can hear the relaxed enjoyment and spontaneity as they swap instrumental roles, add harmonies and contribute ideas. It’s a “back porch” session without the porch!

This CD follows Siegal’s much lauded Man & Guitar, a BBC recording of his solo performance at the Royal Albert Hall as part of Live Nation’s London Bluesfest. Man & Guitar took top spot in MOJO’s roundup of blues albums in 2014, while both CDs confirm Siegal’s position as the finest blues voice the UK has produced since the iconic names of the sixties British blues boom.

MAY 9-10 Radio Show: BLUES MAMA'S DAY

Where would the blues be without mothers? Or maybe a better question would be, where would the blues be without mamas? How about a Mama’s Day tribute with Big Mama Thornton, Ma Rainey, Bonnie Raitt, Mavis Staples, Beth Hart, and more? Sounds good to me.
