Lee "Scratch" Perry's Blackboard Jungle Dub Anniversary Tour
|
Lee “Scratch” Perry and his long-time band, Subatomic Sound System, are hitting the road this month to perform the landmark dub album Blackboard Jungle Dub live for the first time, on the occasion of its 45th anniversary.
The tour, presented by LargeUp, SubPac and Dub Champions Festival, kicks off this Friday, Oct. 12 at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom.

Believe It, written and performed by Kerry Starr, was recorded in 2007 at the Taxi Records Studio in Kingston, Jamaica. It was produced by the legendary production duo Sly and Robbie on the Tune In Riddim. Though the song was done years ago, back then Kerry was not in a position to properly promote and market the record so she held on to it. Fast forward to 2018 and a more established Kerry Starr is now ready to unleash what she is sure is a hit on to the world stage!

This track was recorded with the Lion Head band from Austin Texas, where the video was shot on location. On October 10th, the video was premiered by Reggaeville, and the single was commercially released the same day.

1864: Slavery is abolished in Maryland.
1865: Jamaican national hero Paul Bogle leads a successful protest march to the Morant Bay Courthouse.
1948: Japanese singer Jah K.S.K is born in Sendai, Japan.
1955: Lascelle 'Wiss' Bulgrin [Israel Vibration] is born.
1969: Lascelles Perkins records "Please Stay" for Lloyd Dalley, The Matador. It can be heard on a CD "From Matador's Arena - 1969-1970 - Volume 2" (Jamaican Gold JMC 200.233).
1970: The Victors record "Me A Tell You" for Lloyd Dalley, The Matador. It can be heard on a CD "From Matador's Arena - 1969-1970 - Volume 2" (Jamaican Gold JMC 200.233).
1975: The Wailers and Stevie Wonder jam at the National Arena. The Third World opened the concert.
1993: Anthony Johnson aka Panhead passes away (shot dead) at his home on the morning of this day. (b. c. 1965)
